Maid in Manhattan is a 2002 American romantic comedy that pairs Jennifer Lopez with Ralph Fiennes in a story about mistaken identity, class, and possibility in New York City. At its core, the film follows Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez), a single mother and hotel maid who crosses paths with Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), a wealthy political strategist who mistakes her for a guest at the luxurious Manhattan hotel where she works. The narrative leans on class tension, aspirational fantasy, and measured risk, supported by a compact ensemble that balances warmth and satire. Below is a verified cast outline and production context that explains how the film functions as both aspirational entertainment and a softly subversive romantic comedy.
